5 Top Teacher Gifts That Will Have Them Singing FaLaLaLaLaLa!

It is that time of the season when we begin to think of others, and we begin to create lists for who we need to buy Christmas presents for.  Choosing the perfect gift for your child(ren)’s teacher (or for your teammates) doesn’t have to be a daunting task!  Grab this list to get great gift ideas that teachers will L-O-V-E!  Here are my 5 top teacher gifts for the season.

1. Homemade/Handmade DIY Gifts

This might be my favorite type of  gift from my students.  Well…. at least, thus far, I have received a few handmade gifts that I have loved.  This candy jar is EVERYTHING!  Love it!  Can you tell what it is made from?
Yes, it is a flower pot and base (to catch any water) that has been painted and bejeweled!  I don’t think that it gets any better than this.  {Big cheesy grin!}  Fabulous teacher gift!
This monogrammed Christmas ornament is hanging on my Christmas tree as we speak.  The personalization makes it extra special.  As you can see, neither gift was terribly expensive, but they both made a lasting impression on my heart.

2. Gift Cards

First of all, any gift card is amazing!  Believe me, gift cards are perfect for teacher gifts due to their flexibility.  If you are having a hard time deciding what stores to purchase gift cards from, just ask yourself the following questions.  I put a few suggestions after each question to help spark a few ideas.

Where do they shop?  What do they like to do?

  • Are they crafty?  Michaels. Hobby Lobby.
  • Love to drink coffee? Starbucks is golden for many people.  Others may enjoy Dunkin Donuts coffee more.  You can even think of a different, local coffee chain in your area (perhaps a mom and pop shop).
    • Don’t forget about non-coffee drinkers.  I am a tea lover!
  • Health-conscious? Whole Foods. Sprouts. Trader Joe’s.  A cycling class.
  • Book Lover? Barnes and Noble. Books a Million. A local bookstore in your area.
  • Tech savvy?  Best Buy.  The Apple store.  You don’t need to have a large budget for this category.  Any amount would be so graciously appreciated!
  • Fashion Forward?  Marshalls. TJ Maxx.  Zappos.  DSW Shoes.  Major Department Stores like Macy’s.
  • Need pampering? Bath and Body Works. A local nail salon. A massage parlor like Envy Spa.
  • We all have to eat, right?  :  )  Grocery Chains like Publix, Kroger, or Wal-Mart.
  • Looking for a little indulgence?  A luxe candy store like Godiva Chocolates, Sugarfina, or Dylan’s Candy Bar.
  • If you are looking for a universal, perfect-fit-gift-card, cards to stores like Amazon, Target, or Wal-Mart are great choices.
  • Of course, you don’t want to forget about a gift card to Teachers Pay Teachers.  New resources!  New fonts!  oh my!

3. Teacher Tees

What a better way to say it all without saying a word!  T-Shirts with slogans are so much fun!  You can be professional while being comfortable, expressive without the need to run around with a bullhorn to share your thoughts, and show your school spirit all at the same time.  Now, that is a comprehensive holiday teacher gift!!

4. Mugs

Hold on one second!  Don’t run out to Wal-Mart for this one!!  I’m talking about designer Teacher mugs.
Rae Dunn mugs and ceramics are all the rage right now!  They have funky sayings on them that are written in a “You-got-my- teacher-heart-palpitating” font.  Not just that, the mugs are EXTREMELY affordable!! Run to Home Goods today!  This mug is wonderful as for teacher gifts because it puts a twist on a present that is usually seen as “practical”.  This is a mug that they will want to receive.
Rae Dunn also sells other ceramic pieces like cookie jars, platters, cereal bowls, and dog bowls. They also have sassy and simple sayings written on them in that you-caught-my-eye font that is custom to their brand.   I have been wanting The I Woke Up Like This mug, but haven’t been able to get one. If you see one, think of little ole me. (Big Cheesy grin)
This one is too cute! This mug and photo are from the Northern Newlywed shop on Etsy.

5. Water Bottles

Notably, teachers spend a great deal of time talking throughout the day. We need to re-hydrate often. I keep a water bottle on my desk all of the time.  My water bottle is called “Nathan”.  I cannot recall what brand it is, but it is made out of metal and it really keeps my beverages cold if I add ice to it.  From morning to afternoon, the ice melts a little but will still be there by the time that I get home in the evening.  Unfortunately, I didn’t find my Nathan on my most recent trip to Target, but I did find the Sip by Swells water bottle that is very similar to the one that I own.  Water bottles that are easy to grab for a quick sip are fantastic teacher gifts!
I found these Sip by Swell water bottles in Target.  You can also find them in a variety of styles and colors at Amazon. {This is my Affiliate Link.}
This is not the exact bottle that I own, but mine is made of the same material and also has this twist-on top. I love this brand, too. The colors are amazing!

Here is another fantastic option for you!  How lovely would it be to gift your child’s teacher with a water bottle with their name or favorite saying customized on it!  I love to follow this account, aTwistonTeaching, on Instagram.  As well, Ali has an Etsy store where she sells custom water bottles that she designs.  In addition, the fonts are beautiful and the graphics are bright, colorful, and eye catching.  You can view her Instagram page here to get a peek at her craft.  Note:  Ali’s store is on hiatus for the holidays, but will return soon.  You can keep this idea in mind for end-of-the-year teacher gifts.

Bonus Gift Idea:

A scratch off Lottery ticket or regular Lottery ticket could be life-changing!  Plus, it would only cost you $2.00!  A few years ago, a parent gave me a scratch off ticket in a bag with the 1000 Grand candy bar and other small chocolates inside.  As you can see (LOL), I didn’t win.  But, it was fun and exciting to see if I had any of the winning numbers.  I guess that meant that I was meant to teach for a little bit longer.

I hope that I have given you a few inspiring suggestions for what to get for your favorite Teacher(s) and/or for your teammates and Teacher BFFs.  Leave a note in the comments to tell me what surprises you will have in store for the amazing Teachers in your life!

Happy Holidays!
